RICHMOND COMMUNITY THEATRE GUILD, Inc.

The late Marguerita “The Beautiful” Austin wrote numerous dramatic productions for schools, churches, workshops, and other organizations.  She received several theatre arts awards for her outstanding work in training actors for the professional stage and film work, and her one-woman shows, in stage directing, creativity and expertise in writing plays.  The Guild has worked with movie stars as principal extras with Pierce Brosnan, Robin Givens, Sinbad, James Earl Jones, Diahann Carroll, Pam Grier and many more.

 

She was an accomplished playwright who brought a unique African-American perspective in interpreting biblical and other historical events.  Marguerita was an embracing actor and improvisationalist and has been featured in several film and television projects, including The Sally Hemings Story, An American Scandal and Foreign Student with Robin Givens.
